Comments on development

  • BOMBASSEI DEVELOPED THE PROSPECT HIMSELF; NO RECORDED PRODUCTION, BUT HE IS SAID TO HAVE RECOVERED 18 FLASKS FROM ORE HAULED TO THE RETORT AT THE WILDCAT PROSPECT. AT TIME OF EXAMINATION IN 1981, THERE WERE MORE THAN A DOZEN 5-GALLON BUCKETS OF SCREENED ORE FROM THE BOMBASSEI PROSPECT ON THE LOADING DOCK OF THE WILDCAT RETORT, AND A FEW SIMILAR BUCKETS WERE SEEN AT THE ABANDONED BOMBASSEI WORKINGS. IN 1982, THE GROUND WAS PART OF A LARGE BLOCK OF SMOKY CLAIMS HELD BY THE SMOKY VALLEY MINING CO., PROBABLY FOR THEIR GOLD POTENTIAL.

Deposit LOCALLY SHEARED GRANITE IS CUT BY SMALL VEINS OF QUARTZ. LITTLE CINNABAR OR METACINNABAR WAS SEEN AT THE PROSPECT, BUT A COMPOSITE SAMPLE OF GRABS FROM ADIT DUMP YIELDED ON PANNING SOME CINNABAR AND PROBABLY A LITTLE METACINNABAR.
