  • GEOL.DESC: THE STANLEY SHALE, JACKFORK SANDSTONE, AND ATOKA FORMATION, ALL OF CARBONIFEROUS AGE, HAVE A STEEP REGIONAL SOUTH DIP. STRONG THRUST FAULTING FROM THE SOUTH IN LATE PALEOZOIC TIME HAS THRUST JACKFORK SANDSTONE AND STANLEY SHALE OVER THE ATOKA FORMATION AND HAS CAUSED SOME DUPLICATION IN BEDDING. THE OVERTHRUST BLOCK IS ALSO CUT BY NORTHEAST TEAR FAULTS, NORTH-SOUTH FAULTS ON WHICH THE WEST SIDE MOVED RELATIVELY NORTHWARD, AND BEDDING PLANE FAULTS. THESE FAULTS ARE ATTRIBUTED TO EAST-WEST COMPRESSION WHICH ALSO PRODUCED TWO TYPES OF SMALL FOLDS. SEEN IN PLAN THE LATTER HAVE SHARP "Z" SHAPE OR "S" SHAPE. BOTH TYPES OF FOLDS, AS WELL AS SMALL DRAG FOLDS ALONG FAULTS, ARE LOCI OF ORE DEPOSITION.
