Comments on the production information

  • MORE THAN 200 BUT LESS THAN 500 FLASKS HG PRODUCED CREDITED WITH ABOUT 500 FLASKS PRODUCTION, 1955-1958, 1968-1970. .SOME NEAR-SURFACE ORE YIELDED MORE THAN 200 LBS HG TO THE TON.

Comments on the workings information

  • SHAFT, DRIFTS, OPEN STOPE. SEVERAL ADITS ALONG SHEAR ZONE, OPEN CUT, STOPES EXPOSED IN CUT. SEVERAL BUILDINGS REMAIN IN THE OLD CAMP ALONG -WITH THE REMAINS OF A TUBE RETORT, (1985)

Comments on development

  • ACTIVE FROM 1955 TO 1958 AND 1968 TO 1970. IN THE YEAR FOLLOWING DISCOVERY, LOW WAS REPORTED TO BE TREATING VERY RICH ORE IN AN INCLINED OIL-FIRED RETORT H-AVING 2 D-TYPE CHAMBERS. IT IS,HOWEVER,POSSIBLE THAT THE DEPOS-IT WAS WORKED AT AN EARLIER DATE, FOR IN 1980 THE REMAINS OF- AN OLDER PAN-TYPE RETORT WERE OBSERVED AT THE SITE, AND IN GO-LCONDA CANYON AT THE MINE ROAD JUNCTION, THERE IS YET ANOTHER -OLD RETORT. THE MAIN SHOOT OF RICH ORE, HOWEVER,WAS DOUBTLESS -LOCATED BY LOW, AND IN 1955-1959, ALONE OR WITH FRED MILLER AS- MILLER BASIN MINING CO., HE OBTAINED MORE THAN 250 FLASKS OF -HG USING THE D-RETORT. FROM 1962 TO 1971, HARRY R. BROWN, AS O-WNER OR LESSEE MINED AND RECOVERED A LITTLE ADDITIONAL MERCURY-, AND IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE RIFFLES AND OTHER CONCENTRATING -EQUIPMENT SEEN AT THE DEPOSIT IN 1980 WERE USED BY HIM. SINCE -1971 THE PROPERTY HAS BEEN HELD BY F. J. MILLER & ASSOCS WITH -NO ORE PRODUCTION.

Deposit BRECCIA ZONE IN GREY LIMESTONE; BRECCIA COMPOSED OF FRAGMENTS OF LIMESTONE AND SHALE IN CLAY MATRIX, STREAKED WITH- LENSES AND CLOTS OF LIMONITE. SILICIFIED BRECCIA FRAGMENTS AR-E LACED WITH SILICA AND CALCITE VEINLETS. VUGS IN QUARTZ VEINS- ARE LINED WITH STUBBY QUARTZ CRYSTALS. LARGE BLOCKS OF UNALTE-RED LIMESTONE (POSSIBLY SLIDE BLOCKS)REST ON SOFT ALTERED ROCK-S OF THE BRECCIA ZONE. BRECCIA APPEARS TO BE A LENS OR PIPE FO-RMED ALONG A NE STRUCTURE. ONLY A TRACE OF CINNABAR WAS FOUND -IN THE SAMPLE TAKEN.
Deposit DISCOVERED IN 1955 AND ACTIVE BETWEEN 1955 & 1958 AND 1968-70. THE EUREKA MINE PRODUCED MORE THAN 100 FLASKS OF HG IN 1956, AND LESS THAN 100 FLASKS IN FOLLOWING YEARS. THE SILVER QUEEN MINE IN SEC. 29 PRODUCED 3 FLASKS OF HG IN 1959, THIS MINE IS PROBABLY AN EXTENSION OF THE EUREKA MINE (SEC. 32). ORE BODY WAS MINED THROUGH A SHAFT, DRIFTS, AND AN OPEN STOPE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
