Deposit KNOWN SINCE 1870'S BUT LITTLE WORK DONE ON IT TILL 1936. THE SULFUR OCCURS ON THE SURFACE IN A CONE FORMED BY AN EXTINCT HOT SPRING. DEPOSIT IS CAPPED WITH SEVERAL FEET OF CALCAREOUS MATERIAL. IT IS 1000 FT LONG AND 700 FT. WIDE STANDING 15 FT. ABOVE LEVEL OF SURROUNDING TERRAIN ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Deposit THE SULFUR APPEARS ON THE SURFACE IN A CONE FORMED BY AN EXTINCT HOT SPRING. IT IS CAPPED WITH SEVERAL FEET OF CALCAREOUS MATERIAL AND STANDS 15 FT ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE SURROUNDING TERRAIN. LARGE AMORPHOUS MASSES OF SULFUR OCCUR INTERMIXED WITH GYPSUM.
