Geologic structures

Type of structure Local
Structure description Ne-Trending Fault, Fracture Zone

Ore body information

  • Width 1.52M

Controls for ore emplacement

  • Vein Terminates At The Diabasic Dike On The W End, And At The Fault On The E End

Comments on the geologic information

  • VEIN IS 2 1/2 TO 5 FEET TERMINATING ON THE WEST END IN DIABASED DIKE AND ON EAST END AT A NORTHWEST TRENDING FAULT. TOURMALINE REPLACED QUARTZ AFTER SULFIDE MINERALIZATION. VISIBLE GOLD WAS OBSERVED AS FLAKES IN LIMONITE (FROM PYRITE), IN TETRAHEDRITE, AND RARELY IN GALENA. ORE DEPOSIT IS GENETICALLY RELATED TO THE GRANODIORITE STOCK EXPOSED IN SPRING VALLEY AND THE DIABASE DIKE THAT INTRUDES THE RHYOLITE MAY BE AN OFF SHOOT FROM THIS BODY.

Comments on the workings information

  • THE VEIN WAS MINED BY DRIFTING EASTWARD FROM A SHAFT AT THE WEST END OF THE MINE STOPED TO THE SURFACE ALONG A LENGTH OF ABOUT 200 TO 250 FT.

Comments on development

  • FIRST EXPLORED UNDER THE NAME LADY MARY, THEN RELOCATED IN 1871 AS THE EAGLEMINE. IT WAS ACTIVELY WORKED DURING 1868-85, THEN, INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL 1910.
