Comments on the workings information

  • THE SO-CALLED VEIN STRIKES NORTHWEST IN ALTERED ANDISITE, THE ORE DOES NOT SHOW AT SURFACE IN ALL PLACES, AND MOST OF THE LEDGES ARE BLIND. THE SOFT ALTERED ROCK IN THE ORE ZONES IS HEAVILY IMPREGNATED WITH GYPSUM. IN GENERAL, THE ORE LOOKS LIKE A FERRUGINOUS CEMENTED CONGLOMERATE. IN THE RICHER ORE LEAD SULFIDES AND CARBONATES CARRY FREE GOLD AND SILVER SULFIDE AND CHLORIDE. IN THE WEDEKIND SHAFT, AT A DEPTH OF 213 FEET, A FLOW OF WARM WATER WITH SULPHURETED HYDROGEN WAS CUT (MORRIS) IN 1930, SOUTHWEST MINES INVESTMENT CO, LEASED THE WEDEKIND AND ARKELL MINES AND CHURN DRILLED THREE HOLES. TWO OF THESE HOLES REPORTEDLY HIT LEAD, ZINC, AND SILVER SULFIDES AT DEPTHS RANGING FROM 210 TO 400 FEET. (BONHAM, P 91) A CROSS-SECTION FILED WITH AN OLD REPORT ON WEDEKIND (F.L. PARMETER, 1947) SHOWS GOOD SILVER VALUES FOR ONE OF THESE HOLES (LABELED CD, HOLE 2) VALUES RANGE FROM 19.6 OZ/AG TO 84.8 OZ/AG BETWEEN 224 FEET AND 317 FEET. NO FOOTAGES ARE GIVEN FOR THE INDIVIDUAL ASSAYS. BLM
  • RECORDS SHOW WEDEKIND MINE TO BE LOCATED ON THE SAFEGARD PATENT, M.S. 1949. CLAIM OVERLAPS ON DITCH ON ITS S.E. CORNER.
