Deposit THE KEYSTONE CLAIM COVERS THE FIRST OUTEROPPING OF THE SILVER CITY BRANCH BELOW THE MAIN COMSTOCK LODE. IN THE EARLY DAYS IT WAS DEVELOPED BY A TUNNEL, AN INCLINED SHAFT WITH LEVELS TO 270 FEET, AND A 400 FT VERTICAL SHAFT. THE ORE DEVELOPED WAS TOO LOW GRADE FOR STOPING BUT WITH THE INCREASED PRICE OF GOLD PROFITABLE SHIPMENTS WERE MADE IN THE 1930'S WITH A RECORDED PRODUCTION THROUGH 1939 OF $146.44 FROM 15,074 TONS. THE DAYTON MINE TOOK OVER, REHABILITED THE SHAFT, AND MINED PYRITIC ANDESITE FROM THE CROSSCUTS. BY THE TIME THE DAYTON MINE CLOSED, 170,000 TONS OF $10 KEYSTONE ORE HAD BEEN MINED. NEARLY 90% WAS GOLD VALUES WITH OVER A 90% EXTRACTION RATE.
Deposit SILVER CITY BRANCH OF THE COMSTOCK LODE; VEIN AND DISSEMINATED AURIFEROUS PYRITE IN ANDESITE
