Comments on the geologic information

  • KRETSCHMER NOTES THAT THE STYLE OF MINERALIZATION IS SOMETHING LIKE A HYBRID BETWEEN AN EPITHERMAL VEIN AND A CARLIN-TYPE DEPOSIT. THIS DEPOSIT DOES NOT FIT PARTICULARLY WELL INTO ANY OF THE USGS MODEL CATEGORIES, BUT SEEMS TO BE CLOSEST TO #26A.

Comments on the workings information

  • THE HISTORIC UNDERGROUND WORKINGS CONSISTED OF TWO MAIN ADIT LEVELS THAT CONNECT WITH A 220 FT. DEEP MAIN SHAFT. THERE ARE DEVELOPMENT WORKINGS ALONG THREE LEVELS WITH SUBSIDIARY EXPLORATORY HEADINGS, WINZES, AND ORE PASSES.

Comments on development

  • EIGHT CLAIMS WERE STAKED ON THE PROPERTY IN 1907 BY L.K. KRAMER. TWO CLAIMS WERE PATENTED IN 1909 BY THE GOLCONDA LEDGE MINING CO. ORE WAS PRODUCED FROM UNDERGROUND WORKINGS AND PROCESSED IN GOLCONDA, AND LATER, A 20 STAMP MILL WAS CONSTRUCTED ON THE SITE. APPROXIMATELY 25,000-30,000 TONS OF ORE WERE PROCESSED. WORK BY CORDEX IN THE EARLY 1970'S CONSISTED OF GEOLOGIC MAPPING, UNDERGROUND CHIP AND CHANNEL SAMPLING, BULLDOZER TRENCHING, AND THREE DRILL PROGRAMS TOTALLING 18 ROTARY PERCUSSION HOLES. CORDEX IDENTIFIED A MODEST TONNAGE OF 0.19 OPT GOLD ALONG THE MAIN VEIN. LOWER GRADE DISSEMINATED ORE WAS NOT ATTRACTIVE AT THIS TIME AND THE PROPERTY WAS DROPPED. THE PROPERTY WAS REACQUIRED BY PINSON MINING CO. IN 1986. A PROGRAM TO DEVELOP THE LOWER GRADE DISSEMINATED ORE WAS THEN INITIATED.
