| Deposit | THE PLACER DEPOSITS IN MOST OF THE MAJOR CANYONS DRAINING THE DISTRICT HAVE YIELDED GOLD EACH YEAR SINCE DISCOVERY; THE MOST PRODUCTIVE PERIODS WERE 1913-22, 1932-39, AND 1947-55. BOX CANYON PLACER DEPOSITS WERE DISCOVERED ABOUT 1909. FIRST PRODUCTION WAS 38.34 OZ IN 1910 BY C. MILLER FROM THE GRANDVIEW CLAIMS. THE MANY CLAIMS ARE TREATED COLLECTIVELY HERE.
