  • THIS WAS BY FAR THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COMPANY IN THE DISTRICT WITH A LARGE BLOCK OF THE RICHEST CLAIMS. IN 1968-1969HOWARD HUGHES' SUMMA CORP BOUGHT 1500 OF TONOPAH'S OLD MINING CLAIMS, INCLUDING SOME OF THESE. THEY WERE SOLD TO HOUSTON OIL & MINERALS IN MAY 1977. IN NOV 1981, IT WAS REPORTED THAT HOUSTON WAS TESTING THE OLD DUMPS OF THE MIZPAH MINE AND WOULD MILL 15000 TONS OF IT AT THEIR MANHATTAN MILL IN THE NEAR FUTUREE C30 SPHALERITE, GALENA, JAROSITE, MALACHITE
