Comments on the production information

  • MINE YIELDED 88000 TONS ORE AVERAGING 0.5 % WO3 IN 1942-1944 AND AN ADDITIONAL 18629 TONS IN 1946.ALL OF THIS ORE -WAS MINED FROM THE EASTERN PART OF THE MINE BY UNDERGROUND WOR-KINGS AND 2 GLORY HOLES. IN 1951, OPEN PIT MINING OF THE TIP-T-OP DEPOSIT AT THE WEST END OF THE PROPERTY BEGAN AND CONTINUED- THROUGH 1956, YIELDING ABOUT 37200 TONS ORE. AN ADDITIONAL 18-8000.TONS WERE ALSO MINED FROM THE UNDERGROUND WORKINGS DURING- THE PERIOD FROM 1955, BY THE GETCHELL MINING CO.

Deposit SCHEELITE IS IRREGULARLY DISTRIBUTED AND IS ENTIRELY ABSENT FROM MUCH OF THE TACTITE. WHERE THE CONTACT IS ABOUT P-ARALLEL TO THE STRIKE OF THE LIMESTONE, THE TUNGSTEN MINERALIZ-ATION IS MORE NEARLY UNIFORM THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE MASS OF TACT-ITE. WHERE THE CONTACT IS AT AN ANGLE TO THE STRIKE OF SEDIMEN-TARY BEDS, THE TACTITE BODIES AND THE ORE ZONES WITHIN THEM AR-E MORE IRREGULAR AND MAY PITCH IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DIP OF -THE BEDS. THE LARGEST AND MOST CONTINUOUS TACTITE OREBODY IS A-T THE EASTERN END OF THE PROPERTY. THE MAIN LAYER HAS BEEN TRA-CED FOR 230 FT ON THE SURFACE WHERE ITS WIDTH RANGES FROM 5 TO- 25 FT. ON THE LOWER ADIT LEVEL IT IS 200 FT LONG. THE AVERAGE- WIDTH IS BETWEEN 15 AND 20 FT AND THE TUNGSTEN CONTENT IS R- ATHER UNIFORMLY ABOUT 0.6 % WO3, WHICH WAS DILUTED SOMEWHAT - IN MINING.
Deposit OCCURRENCE OF SCHEELITE WAS KNOWN FOR SOME TIME BEFORE ORE WAS MINED IN 1942. MAINLY UNDERGROUND WORKINGS, FROM 1942 TO 1944 AND FROM 1950 TO 1955. THE PROPERTY IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE ABOUT 42,200 TONS ORE AT 0.45% WO3 RESERVES. MAIN PRODUCTION WAS FROM THE MAIN TACTITE BODY AT THE EAST END OF THE OREBODY. WORKINGS CONSIST OF 2 ADITS CONNECTED TO 2 GLORY HOLES; PITS AND TRENCHES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
