  • THE HOST ROCK IS A BLACK SLATE WITH DARK LIMESTONES AND SOME LIGHTER QUARTZITE BEDS OCCURRING IN A THRUST ZONE SEPARATING THE BROAD CANYON FORMATION BELOW FROM THE ORDOVICIAN AND SILUMAN CARBONATE ROCKS ABOVE. A CROSSCUT ADIT, ABOUT 350 FT IN LENGTH, EXPOSES A MINERALIZED ZONE OF QUARTZ STRINGERS MORE THAN 200 FT WIDE IN CRUMPLED AND SCHISTOSE ROCKS THAT STRIKE NORTH TO N 25DGE E. PYRITE AND IRON OXIDES ARE ABUNDANT IN THE QUARTZ STRINGERS; THE ENTIRE ZONE IS REPORTED TO ASSAY ABOUT 4 OUNCES SILVER AND 0.03 OUNCE GOLD PER TON.
