IN 1926 THE PROPERTY WAS REOPENED BY THE SPRUCE CONSOLIDATED MINES CO, AFTER BEING IDLE FOR 9 YEARS. IN LATE 1926, THE NEVADA LEAD & ZINC MINING CO. BECAME THE OWNER-OPERATOR. THE SHAFT WAS RECONDITIONED AND WORK WAS CARRIED ON AT 6 LEVELS, MOSTLY ABOVE THE 70 FT AND 120 FT LEVELS. MINESHUT DOWN IN 1930

Deposit DEPRESSED METAL PRICES, THE MINE SHUT DOWN. THE ORE WAS TAKEN BY AERIAL TRAM 3900 FT TO THE ORE BIN AT THE BLACK FOREST LOWER ADIT AND FROM THERE 2900 FT BY TRAM TO THE TRUCK LOADING STATION. LATHAM PATENT IS MINERAL SURVEY NO. 38 (OFF. NO. 1460) KILLE PATENT IS MINERAL SURVEY NO. 46 (OFF. NO. 1468). ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
Deposit LEAD-SILVER ORES WERE DISCOVERED IN 1869 AT THE LATHAM MINE. AFTER A MINING DISTRICT CONSOLIDATION IN 1871, THE INGOT MINING CO. ACQUIRED THE LATHAM AND OTHER MINES ALSO BUILDING A SMELTER AT SPRUCE MONT TO TREAT THE LEAD CARBONATE ORES. THIS FURNACE OPERATED FOR ABOUT A YEAR WITH VARIED RESULTS UNTIL IT SHUTDOWN. THE OLD MINE WORKINGS CONSISTED OF ADITS & SHAFTS, ONE BEING 108 FT IN 1872. BEFORE 1916 THE KILLIE SHAFT WAS SUNK BY THE SPRUCE MOUNTAIN COPPER CO., EAST OF THE OLD WORKINGS AND AT A LOWER ELEVATION. IT WAS 220 FT, WITH A 1450 FT DRIFT CUTTING LIMESTONES AND THE GRANITE PORPHYRY. IN 1926 THE PROPERTY WAS REOPENED BY THE SPRUCE CONSOLIDATED MINES COMPANY AFTER BEING IDLE FOR 9 YEARS. IN LATE 1926 THE NEVADA LEAD AND ZINC MINING COMPANY BECAME THE OWNER-OPERATOR. THE SHAFT WAS RECONDITIONED AND WORK WAS CARRIED ON ON 6 LEVELS-TOTAL WORKINGS SEVERAL THOUSAND FEET.
