Deposit MN-RICH SILICIFIED FAULT ZONE, 5 FT WIDE, BLACK DUE TO ABUNDANT WAD AND MN OXIDES, CONTAINING SOME LIMONITIC GOSSAN LENSES AND BRECCIA (?) FRAGMENTS OF WHITE AND BLACK CALCITE. ZONE IS BRECCIATED AND SILICIFIED. ON NE SIDE OF SHAFT IS A RESISTANT OUTCROP OF LIMESTONE BRECCIA CEMENTED BY SILICA AND MN OXIDES. EAST OF SHAFT 2 PROSPECTS OCCUR IN MEDIUM (1-2 FT THICK) BEDS OF MARLY BROWN LIMESTONE WHICH STRIKES N45W, DIP 25 NE. LIMONITE-STAINED, SILICIFIED REPLACEMENT ZONES CUT THE ROCKS PARALLEL TO BEDDING. ONE ZONE ABOUT 3 FT WIDE WAS BRECCIATED AND FILLED WITH LIMONITE, HEMATITE, MN OXIDES, CLAY AND CALCITE. REMOBILIZED PODS OF WHITE CALCITE VEINS ARE COMMON WITHIN THE ZONE. SAMPLE 1717 IS OF WAD AND MANGAND SIDERITE, WITH VUGS FILLED WITH PYRITE, ARSENOPYRITE?, PYROLUSITE, QUARTZ AND CALCITE. ORE IS VUGGY, SLIGHTLY MAGNETIC, DENSE.
Deposit COUNTY MAP OF MINES SHOWS KING MIDAS MINE AT THIS LOCALITY. HOWEVER, THE DESCRIPTION OF THE MINE IN THE COUNTY REPORT BETTER FITS SAMPLE LOCATION 1714 WHERE NW FAULT ZONE IS STOPED TO A DEPTH OF 30-40 FT. THERE IS NO STOPING OF FAULT ZONE AT THIS LOCALITY. ; INFO.SRC : 3 FIELD OBSERV
