CONSISTS OF A SERIES OF CLASTIC BEDS AT THE BASE, SUCCEEDED BY A THICK LIMESTONE, A GYPSIFEROUS AND CLASTIC SERIES, A CALCAREOUS CLAY AND LIMESTONE THAT CONTAINS THE COLEMANITE BED, AND FINALLY, A GROUP OF TUFFACEOUS BEDS AT THE ERODED TOP. THE SEQUENCE IS UP TO 7,000 FT THICK.

  • A CALCINING PLANT WAS IN OPERATION HERE UNTIL 1928. IT WAS LARGELY INTACT IN 1936. IN 1936 THOUGHT TO BE ABOUT 400,000 TONS ORE REMAINING. RECENT DOWNDIP DRILLING (1978) BY AMERICAN BORAX ESTIMATES ORE RESERVES AT 3.2 MILLION TONS OF 26% B2O3.
