Deposit CONSIDERABLY DISTORTED BEDS OF GYSUM GENERALLY STRIKE N 45 E, DIP 10 NW. IN THE PIT, GYSUM IS POORLY BEDDED WITH BEDS 1-4 INCHES THICK. GYSUM IS WHITE TO VERY LIGHT GRAY, WEATHERS SLIGHTLY DARKER, SUGARY (< 1 MM), MOSTLY FRIABLE AND FAIRLY UNIFORM. X-RAY DIFFRACTION OF SAMPLE 2702 SHOWS GYSUM WITH A MODERATE AMOUNT OF CALCITE, SMALL AMOUNT OF MONT MORILLONITE AND TRACE QUARTZ AND MICA.
