Comments on the geologic information

  • THE PRINCIPAL ROCKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MN MINERALIZATION ARE ALTERED PILLOW BASALT, JASPER, SILICIFIED LIMESTONE, AND PHYLLITE. THESE ROCKS STRIKE EASTERLY AND DIP STEEPLY SOUTH. JOINTING AND FRACTURING GIVE THEM A BLOCKY APPEARANCE. TWO LENTICULAR BODIES OF MN SILICATES ARE CONFORMABLE WITH THE COUNTRY ROCKS. ONE IS INTERMITTANTLY EXPOSED FOR 230 FT AND RANGES FROM LESS THAN 1 FT TO 12 FT IN WIDTH. THE FOOT WALL IS BASALT, AND THE HANGING WALL IS JASPER AND RED, SILICEOUS LIMESTONE. THE SECOND LENS IS 25 FT SOUTH OF THE FIRST AN HAS AN EXPOSED AREA OF 60 BY 135 FT. A STEEPLY DIPPING FAULT NEAR THE CENTER OF THE LENS STRIKES NORTH AND HAS OFFSET THE WESTERN PART 30 FT TO THE SOUTH. HOST ROCKS SOUTH OF THIS LENS ARE THIN-BEDDED LIMESTONE AND SHALES.
