Deposit AURIFEROUS QUARTZ VEINS ALONG W EDGE OF ROOF PENDANT CONSISTING OF CHLORITIC SCHISTS AND SLATES INTRUDED BY NUMEROUS GRANITIC DIKES AND PORPHYRIES. VEINS CROSSCUT SCHISTOSITY (NNW, STEEP E).
Deposit NUMEROUS PLACER AND LODE GOLD LOCALITIES IN AREA. THE AMERICA AND BUENA VISTA PLACERS WERE DISCOVERED IN 1870 BY AMBROSIO CASTILLO, AND DISCOVERY OF LODE GOLD IN THE SURROUNDING HILLS FOLLOWED SOON AFTER.
