Comments on the geologic information

  • CAPOTE BASIN GEOLOGY: (EINAUDI, 1982) 1000 M SECTION OF PALEOZOIC QUARTZITE AND LIMESTONE OVERLYING PRECAMBRIAN GRANITE EXPOSED IN WNW-TRENDING HORST. HORST IS BOUNDED BY CAPOTE AND ELISA FAULTS, WHICH STRIKE N 20 W AND DIP VERTICALLY. OLDER SET OF FAULTS STRIKING N 45 W REPEAT THE PALEOZOIC SECTION WITHIN THE HORST. NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE HORST, PALEOZOIC ROCKS ARE UNCONFORMABLY OVERLAIN BY A MINIMUM OF 1700 M OF MESOZOIC(?) TUFFS AND FLOWS OF DACITIC-LATITIC COMPOSITION. (HENRIETTA FM.)
