CHONTES CONGLOMERATE: THICK SEQUENCE OF POLYMICTIC CONGLOMERATES AND CROSSBEDDED RED SANDSTONE LENSES WITH 2-3 M THICK LAHARIC UNIT AT BASE, UNCONFORMABLY OVERLYING ESCUADRA FM. LAHARIC MEMBER CONTAINS ECONOMIC U MINERALIZATION, AND IS THE UNIT IN WHICH THE MINERAL SPECIES "MARGARITASITE" WAS ORIGINALLY DESCRIBED.

DISSEMINATED ZONES WITH HEXAVALENT MINERALS FILLING VOIDS IN ALTERED FELDSPAR PHENOCRYSTS. VERTICAL ZONATION CONSISTS OF MO ENRICHMENT UPWARDS AND DOWNWARD U ENRICHMENT. SOME STRATIFORM ENRICHED U ORE BODIES PRESENT AT THE TOP OF THE LAHARIC MEMBER OF THE CHONTES FM.
Deposit ECONOMIC MINERALIZATION WAS EXPLOITED DURING THE LATE 1950'S FROM REEF LIMESTONES OF THE domatilla DEPOSIT ADJACENT TO THE MARGARITAS MINE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
