| Deposit | BALDY PEAK IS AN ISOLATED LIMESTONE ROOF PENDANT AT THE NORTHWEST RIM O AMASSA VALLEY. THE PENDANT IS ENTIRELY SURROUNDED BY GRANITE (NOTCH PEAK INTRUSION) AND HAS BEEN PENETRATED BY APLITE DIKES. TACTITE ZONES OCCUR IN LIMESTONE AT THE GRANITE CONTACT. THE LIMESTONE BEDS DIP 20 TO 25 DEGREES SW. SCHEELITE OCCURS AS FINELY DISSEMINATED GRAINS IRREGULARLY DISTRIBUTED IN THE TACTITE ZONE WHICH MAY BE TRACED ON THE SURFACE IN AN IRREGULAR BLOCK ABOUT 375 FEET LONG AND 180 FT WIDE. MOST OF THE COMMERCIAL ORE IS IN THE GARNETIFEROUS TACTITE. |
