Deposit 90-150 FT THICK PERLITE LAYERS WITHIN 8000-10000FT OF TERTIARY VOLCANIC ROCKS. THE PERLITIC ZONES ARE IN THE UPPER PORTION OF THIS VOLCANIC SERIES. THE PERLITE COMMONLY CONTAINS 0.1 IN DIAMETER QUARTZ PHENOCRYSTS. THE VOLCANIC SERIES DIPS GENTLY SOUTHWARD AND IS DISPLACED SOMEWHAT BY FAULTS OF NORTHWARD STRIKE.
