ECON.COM: THE FAILURE OF EARLY MINING IN THE REGION WAS DUE TO TECHNICAL FAILURES IN THE MINES AND POOR OPERATION OF THE RECOVERY PLANTS. MINING STOPPED AT THE DEPTH WHERE THE FREE GOLD DID, AND THUS THE ZONE REMAINS OF POSSIBLE IMPORTANCE FOR ITS SUBSURFACE RESERVES.
