General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THE DEPOSIT IS IN A RECENT ALLUVIAL CONGLOMERATE WHICH WAS DEPOSITED BY THE IRCO AND PELARCO STREAMS. THE CLASTS ARE IGNEOUS INTRUSIVES AND QUARTZ AND ARE IN A CLAYEY-SAND MATRIX. GOLD FLAKES AND OTHER ABUNDANT HEAVY MINERALS ARE DISSEMINATED THROUGH THE MATRIX. THE CONGLOMERATE VARIES IN WIDTH FROM 50 CM TO 1.5 M. IT IS EXTENSIVE IN AREA, BUT NOT ALL PARTS YIELD GOLD.
Deposit BUENAVENTURA (1975) REPORTS THAT THE DEPOSIT IS OF LITTLE ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE SINCE IT HAS BEEN WORKED INTENSELY, AND THAT ONLY A FEW POOR MARGINAL AREAS OF THE DEPOSIT REMAIN.
