  • IN 1988, AREA CONSISTS OF A DEPRESSION, NATRUALLY RECLAIMED. MAP OF MINE (MILLER, 1944, P. 76) INDICATES ONE CUT INTO THE HILLSIDE FROM THE LATE 1800'S WORKINGS. IN 1942, A TRENCH AND TWO PROSPECT PITS WERE EXCAVATED INTO THE OLD WORKINGS.

  • IN THE LATE 1800'S THE WORKINGS WERE BY LOBDELL CAR WHEEL COMPANY (WILMINGTON, DELAWARE). THE ORE WAS HAULED TO WHITE ROCK FURNACE (TO THE EAST OF THE MINE) WHERE SUPERIOR GRADE CAST IRON WAS MADE.
