  • THE SINGLE OPEN CUT IS APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET WIDE, 30 FEET DEEP INTO HILLSIDE AND 20 FEET HIGH INTO THE HILL SIDE. WORKINGS TREND N 80 DEGREES E. OPEN CUT IS NOW PARTIALLY FILLED WITH TRASH AND ROCK DEBRIS. ONLY MINOR PIECES OF BARITE FLOAT WAS FOUND ALONG THE SIDES OF THE OPEN CUT. FIELD EXAMINATION WAS CONDUCTED 12/4/85.

  • PROSPECTING (AND MINING) WAS CONDUCTED IN THIS PART OF THE BARITE DISTRICT NORTHEAST OF MARION IN 1875. OTHER NEARBY DEPOSITS WERE DISCOVERED AND WORKED FROM1875 UNTIL 1885. THE PROSPECT CONSISTS OF A SINGLE OPEN CUT NOW FILLED WITH TRASH AND ROCK DEBRIS. NO MENTION OF THIS PROSPECT IS MADE BY EDMUNDSON.

Deposit NO DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPOSIT IS AVAILABLE. NO BARITE IS SEEN IN OUTCROP AND NO DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN IN THE LITERATURE. MOST LIKELY, IT IS SIMILAR TO GROSECLOSE PROSPECT #1, BEING COARSELY CRYSTALLINE BARITE FOUND IN IRREGUALR VEINS AND REPLACEMENT MASSES.
