  • OPENED 1902 BY HALE FAMILY. LEASED AND MINED BY HARRY ANDREWS UNTIL 1916, CLOSED BECAUSE OF LABOR COSTS. LEASED AND MINED AGAIN FROM 1938 UNTIL LAST SEEN (1949) BY EUREKA MICA MINING AND MILLING CO. OF PORTLAND, SUBSIDIARY OF EUREKA FLINT AND SPAR CO. OF TRENTON, N.J. IN 1949, PIT 655 FEET LONG N-S, 50 FEET WIDE E-W, AND 45 TO 100 FEET DEEP. THE DIKE TRENDS NORTH WITH VERTICAL DIP. ALSO PRESENT IS A PROSPECT PIT 550 FEET TO SOUTH OF MAIN PIT. ONLY MINED FOR FELDSPAR.
