  • IN 1974, WATER-FILLED SHAFT, THREE CAVED PITS, AND DUMP PILES EVIDENT. IN 1877 THE MAIN SHAFT WAS 33.5 M (110 FT) DEEP, WHILE THE VEIN WAS DEVELOPED FOR 91.5 M (300 FT) ALONG ITS STRIKE. IN OCT., 1987, THE NUMEROUS CAVED SHAFTS WERE PARTIALLY FILLED WITH TREE SLASHINGS FROM FORMER LOGGING OPERATION ON SITE.

  • THE MINE WAS INTERMITTENTLY WORKED TO 1904, WITH THE GREATEST ACTIVITY AROUND 1877. AT THAT TIME THERE WERE 35 MEN EMPLOYED AND A 10-STAMP MILL WAS USED TO TREAT THE ORE.

Deposit GOLD OCCURS IN A QUARTZ VEIN IN QUARTZ-SERICITE SCHIST. THE ORE FROM THE LOWER WORKINGS WAS HIGHLY PYRITIC BUT EASILY CONCENTRATED TO YIELD $175 PER TON. IN 1877 THERE WERE 200 TONS OF ORE ON THE DUMP.
Deposit THE MINE WAS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY TO 1904, WITH THE GREATEST ACTIVITY AROUND 1877. AT THAT TIME WERE 35 MEN EMPLOYED, AND A 10 STAMP MILL WAS USED TO TREAT THE ORE.
