  • ORE ON THE DUMP WAS CRUSHED AND AMALGAMATED, YIELDING $50 GOLD PER TON, ABOUT 1858.

  • CREDNER REPORTED CAVED DRIFTS AND SHAFTS IN 1865. IN 1974, A CAVED SHAFT, ABOUT FIFTEEN CAVED PITS AND TRENCHES, AND DUMPS WERE EVIDENT.

  • WHEN CREDNER VISITED THE MINE IN 1865 THE DRIFTS AND SHAFTS HAD CAVED IN. CREDNER FURTHER STATED THAT "SEVEV YEARS AGO THIS MINE WAS SOTD TO A NEW YORK COMPANY. THE NEW PROPRIETORS HAD THE QUARTZ FROM THE DUMP REDUCED AND AMALGAMATED AT THE EAGLE MINE, AND ARE SAID TO HAVE RECEIVED A YIELD OF FIFTY DOLLARS GOLD PER TON OF ORE.

Deposit A VEIN OF WHITE, HARD QUARTZ, 0.9 TO 1.2 M (3 TO 4 FT) WIDE, CARRIED ISOLATED, IRREGULAR, BUT EXCEEDING RICH POCKETS OF AURIFEROUS PYRITE? THESE POCKETS ALSO CONTAINED FREE GOLD AND VERY OFTEN THE QUARTZ PIECES WERE HELD TOGETHER WITH WIRE-GOLD.
