  • IN 1974, A CAVED SHAFT, TWO SMALL PITS, CONCRETE FOUNDATION, AND A LARGE DUMP WERE EVIDENT. TWO SHAFTS WERE SUNK IN THE 1800'S, ONE 30.5 M (100 FT) AND ONE 43 M (140 FT) DEEP, AND WERE CONNECTED BY LEVELS.

Comments on development

  • MINE WAS WORKED BEFORE AND AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. THE ORE WAS MILLED BY A BATTERY OF TEN STAMPS, TABLES, AND AMALGAMATION. IN 1982, A.A. BEIRO CONST. CO., ALEXANDRIA, VA. DID SOME EXPLORATORY WORK ON THE SITE: ONE HOLE JUST NW OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE OLD PLANT NOTED 2-3 PPM AU.
