  • THIS IS THE FIRST RECORDED OCCURRENCE OF VIVIANITE IN THE DISTRICT. PROBABLY ORGANIC BODIES WERE REPLACED BY FERROUS PHOSPHATE.

  • GEOL.DESC: THE MINERAL IS DISSEMINATED IN SURFICIAL DEPOSITS OF SANDY-CLAY WHICH OVERLIE THE PIEDMONT SCHIST AND GNEISS. THE MINERAL APPEARS AS GLOBULAR NODULES, RANGING IN, SIZE FROM 1MM TO 1CM. USUALLY FOUND 20-30 FT. BELOW THE SURFACE.
