  • IN 1911, OPERATOR ROBERT ECKERLEIN. QUARRY OPENED IN 1855. IN 1911, PIT 150 FEET LONG, 100 FEET WIDE, 25 TO 40 FEET DEEP. GRANITE DIKE TRENDS NE., MODERATE DIP TO SOUTHEAST. SHEETS 22 INCHES TO 13 FEET THICK, DIP GENTLY EAST AND SOUTH. CUT BY 4 FOOT PEGMATITE DIKE WITH STRIKE N. 10 DEG. WEST AND DIPS 50 DEG. WEST. GRANITE MEDIUM TO DARK GREENISH GRAY COLOR, WITH EVEN GRAINED FINE GRANITIC TEXTURE. TWO ADDITIONAL GRANITE DIKE QUARRY SITES; ONE LOCATED 400 TO SSW. ON SAME DIKE, OTHER 500 FEET TO SW. ON ADJACENT PARALLEL GRANITIC DIKE.
