Deposit First Production Year: 1948 MAJOR PRODUCTION
Deposit THE PRINCIPAL ORE BODIES IN THE YAURICOCHA DEPOSIT ARE THE CATAS, MASCOTA, AND POZO RICO. THE CATAS CONSISTS OF PIPE-LIKE BODIES OF MASSIVE PYRITE WITH ENARGITE AND CHALCOPYRITE. THE POZO RICO PIPE IS ELONGATED ALONG THE CONTACT OF A LENTICULAR STOCK. THE MASCOTA PIPE CONSISTS OF TABULAR REPLACEMENTS, PIPES AND POCKETS. IN GENERAL, THE ORE BODIES ARE FOUND ALONG THE CONTACT WITH FRANCE CHERT, ADJOINING THE GRANODIORITE MASS, AND WITHIN THE MACHAY LIMESTONE. DISTRICT IS ZONED WITH AN EASTERN ENARGITE ZONE, INCLUDING ENARGITE VEINS AND GRANODIORITE INTRUSIONS, TO AN ENARGITE-CHALCOPYRITE-BORNITE ZONE, TO A SPHALERITE-GALENA ZONE, TO A SILVER ZONE. T.C.O. ARE TRANSPORTED COPPER OXIDES. CATAS ORE BODY RETAINS RELICT TEXTURES SUGGESTING REPLACEMENT OF A REEF FACIES IN THE LIMESTONE. PURISIMA CONCEPCION DEPOSIT MAY BE A SEDIMENT HOSTED GOLD DEPOSIT.
