Deposit SCHEELITE BEARING TACTITE OCCURS ON THE QUIXABA DOS VERDES CONCESSION (JOSE MARCELINO) IN THE MUNICIPIO OF SANTANA IN RIO GRANDE DO NORTE. THE CONCESSION IS 5 KM NORTH OF THE TOWN OF SAO JOSE DE SABUGI IN PARAIBA. SR. MARCELINO HAS REQUESTED THE DNPM TO ASSIST HIM IN PROSPECTING THE AREA. SEVERAL THICK BEDS OF TACTITE ARE IN THIS STRUCTURALLY COMPLEX AREA. EXAMINATION OF THE TACTITES WITH A MINERALIGHT SHOWS THAT THEY ARE NOT UNIFORMLY SCHEELITE-BEARING. IN SOME PLACES, THE TACTITE IS VISUALLY ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN 1% WO3; IN OTHERS, THE TACTITE IS BARREN. THE MINERALOGICAL ASSEMBLAGE AT QUIXABA DOS VERDES IS SIMILAR TO THAT AT LAGES. AMPHIBOLE IS ABUNDANT; THE TACTITES ARE NOT THE TYPICAL GARNET-EPIDOTE-VESUVIANITE SUITE; AND THE SCHEELITE ITSELF IS A CLEAR, NEARLY TRANSPARENT MINERAL WITH A BRIGHT BLUE FLUORESCENCE.
