Deposit TALC BELT OCCURS 13 TO 15 KM NORTH OF JOSE GONCALVES. THE TALC-BEARING LAYERS STRIKE N10-25W, ARE DISCONTINUOUS, AND ABOUT 4 METERS THICK. THE DEPOSIT IS DERIVED FROM ALTERATION OF CA-MG SILICATE GNEISS. THE PRESENCE OF IMPURITIES AND LACK OF PERSISTENCE MAKES THESE DEPOSITS MARGINALLY ECONOMIC. AT PRESENT THE TALC IS TRUCKED TO ILHEUS AND VICINITY.
