Deposit IN BRECCIATED ORE NEARLY ALL OF THE AG WAS IN THE GRAY QUARTZ. CHIEF VEIN IS POCAHONTAS, TRACED FOR MORE THAN 760 M. AG-ZN ORE CONFINED LARGELY TO THIS VEIN. IRREGULAR BODIES OF MN ORE BORDER POCAHONTAS VEIN AND SMALL VEINS TO THE N. BODIES ARE ABOUT 12 M THICK, 50 M LONG, AND 30 M WIDE. VEINS ARE UP TO 10 M WIDE. THE MN VEIN PITCH STEEPLY NE PARALLEL WITH THE DIP OF THE LIMESTONE.
Deposit GEM CLAIM ONE OF FIRST LOCATED IN DISTRICT; PRODUCED 30,000 LT OF MN ORE BY 1918. POCAHONTAS, OPERATED BY PATTEN BROS. AND WESTERN ORE & MINING CO., PRODUCED SEVERAL THOUSAND TONS BY 1918. AFTER BEING IDLE FOR ABOUT 30 YEARS TROUT WAS BOUGHT AND OPENED BY WESTERN ORE ABOUT 1917. GROUP WAS PURCHASED AND COMBINED IN 1924 BY TROUT MINING DIV., AMERICAN MACHINE AND METALS CORP. THE TROUT MINING DIV. THEN SEPARATED ABOUT 1960 TO BECOME THE TROUT MINING CO. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
