  • GEOL.DESC: MINE IS WITHIN INLIER OF LOWER LIMESTONE MEMBER OF OWENS VALLEY FORMATION, HAS BEEN METAMORPHOSED. INLIER IS 2,000 FT. LONG AND 600 FT. WIDE. IT IS ENCIRCLED BY TERTIARY AND QUATERNARY VOLCANIC ROCKS CONSISTING OF OLIVINE BASALT, TUFF, TUFF - BRECCIA, AGGLOMERATE AND ANDESITE. CALC - HORNFEL CONSISTS MAINLY OF CALCITE, QUARTZ AND DIOPSIDE, MINOR ZOISITE, GARNET, EPIDOTE, LIMONITE AND OPAQUE MINERALS. MINOR BEDS OF UNSILICATED BLUISH - GRAY LIMESTONE, LOCALLY FOSSILIFEROUS ARE INTERBEDDED WITH CALC - HORNFELS. INLIER IS CUT BY SYENO - DIORITE PORPHYRY DIKES, 2 - 6 FT. THICK, STRIKE N 70 W, DIP NEAR VERTICAL. 2 - 16 FT. THICK BASALT DIKES, CUT BOTH LIMESTONE AND VOLCANIC ROCKS.
