  • SHAFT WAS SUNK PRIOR TO CIVIL WAR ON A QUARTZ VEIN CCARRYING PYRITE? IN 1879, A PIT OPENED A VEIN WHICH SHOWED GOLD ON PANNING. IN 1974, 2 SHALLOW TRENCHES, ONE SHALLOW PIT AND SMALL DUMP PILES WERE EVIDENT.

  • PHELPS DODGE CORP DRILLED 2 HOLES ON PROPERTY IN NOV-DEC 1985. TOTAL DEPTH OF HOLES ARE 554 FT AND 600 FT. CORE IS STORED AT VA DIV. OF MINERAL RESOURCES.
