  • IN 1974, THREE SMALL TRENCH CUTS AND THREE SMALL DUMP (?) PILES EVIDENT.

Comments on development

  • MINE WAS WORKED AS A PLACER DEPOSIT PRIOR TO THE CIVIL WAR, PROBABLY BEFORE 1850. VEINS WORKED IN THE 1880'S AND AGAIN A OUND 1910 THROUGH 1913. THE ORE WAS HAULED TO THE TELLURIUM MINE MILL FOR PROCESSING.

Deposit Discovery Year: PRE-CIVIL WAR
Deposit VEINS PART OF GOLD HILL VEIN SYSTEM (TABER, 1913). ADDITIONAL VEIN, 0.3 M WIDE, STRIKES N22 DEG E AND IS NEARLY VERTICAL. ALSO "CROSS" VEIN WHICH STRIKES N30 DEG W AND DIPS SW ABOUT 35 DEG.
Deposit BOWLES MINE COMPRISES A LARGE TRACT WITH TWO WORKINGS 1.3 MI (2.1 KM) APART. THE NORTHERN WORKINGS (THIS REPORT) ARE SITUATED IN FLUVANNA CO. AND WERE DEVELOPED ON THE GOLD HILL VEIN SYSTEM. THE SOUTHERN WORKINGS (ADDITIONAL REPORT) LIE IN GOOCHLAND CO. AND WERE DEVELOPED ON THE TELLURIUM VEIN SYSTEM. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
