  • A TRENCH STRIKING N. 55 DEG. W. WAS PRESENT IN 1948, LOCATED ALONG A MINERALIZED JOINT. SEVERAL PROSPECT PITS WERE ALSO NOTED IN 1948.

Comments on development

  • THIS MINE WAS PROBABLY FIRST WORKED IN 1875-1885 AS PART OF THE PIEDMONT COPPER MINES AND CLEANED OUT AND REINVESTIGATED IN 1917-1918 BY THE BUFFALO RIDGE DEVELOPMENT CO. ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATIONS WERE CARRIED OUT AROUND 1948-1949 (VA. DIV. MIN. RES. FIELD REPORTS). MOORE (1940) REPORTED THAT A COMPANY WAS FORMED IN 1939 TO CLEAN OUT THE SHAFTS AND MINE ORE. NO RECORD OF ANY ACTUAL WORK HAS BEEN LOCATED.
