  • MUCH MORE QUARTZ IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS AREA THAN ON OTHER SEGMENTS OF THE GOSSAN LEAD. WRIGHT AND RAMAN (1948) FEEL THE DEPOSIT REPRESENTS A GROUP OF SMALL SULFIDE LENSES. THE TOPOGRAPHIC SITUATION DOES NOT FAVOR SECONDARY ENRICHMENT.

  • 1859: CURREY REPORTED 6 TUNNELS (152 M) AND 30 SHAFTS (213 M). 1939: THOMPSON SANK 1 SHAFT. MARCH, 1987: LAND USED FOR PASTURE AND HOUSING; VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE OF MINING ACTIVITY. WEST OF ROUTE 819 IS A DISTURBED ZONE, WITH BLOCKS OF GOSSAN AND BULL QUARTZ LYING AROUND. EAST OF 819, ON A HILLSIDE NEAR ROUTE 770, ARE SMALL GOB PILES, 2 TRENCHES, AND A POSSIBLE COLLAPSED PORTAL. NORTH OF 770 ON A N 55 E LINE FROM THE "PORTAL" ARE 3 SMALL PITS AND A TRENCH, PLUS BLOCKS OF GOSSAN AND BULL QUARTZ.
