  • PRESENCE OF WOLFRAMITE FIRST REPORTED IN DISTRICT IN 1901, BUT INTENSIVE EXPLORATION NOT BEGUN UNTIL 1942. DISCOVERY OF BURWELL VEIN NOT DELINEATED; HOWEVER IN 1943 VEINS PROSPECTED BY SOUTHERN AGGREGATES CORP. BY SURFACE MINING TECHNIQUES. IN 1943, U.S. BUREAU OF MINES EXPLORED SOUTHERN PORTION OF VEIN SYSTEM BY TRENCHING AND DRILLING. IN 1944, SOUTHERN AGGREGATES CORP. CARRIED OUT EXPLORATORY DRILLING PROGRAM.
