  • THE MINE WAS WORKED FOR IRON ORE IN PITS, OPEN-CUTS, TRENCHES, AND SHAFTS ON THE NORMA PROPERTY BY AN UNKNOWN COMPANY, POSSIBLY THE NORMA IRON CO. THE MINE CLOSED DOWN AROUND 1885 AND WAS SOLD BEFORE 1887 TO THE CLINCH VALLEY COAL AND IRON COMPANY. FURTHER WORK DONE BY THIS COMPANY WAS NOT STATED.
