  • MAIN MINE TRENCH IS 9 M (30 FT) LONG AND 3 M (10 FT) DEEP, AND 2.4 M (8.0 FT) WIDE. OTHER TRENCHES AND TEST PITS ARE SMALLER, MOST OF THE TEST PITS ARE SHALLOW AND ABOUT 1.0 M (3.3 FT) IN DIAMETER. APPROXIMATELY 30 TEST PITS WERE DUG.

Comments on development

  • MINE CONSISTED PRINCIPALLY OF A LARGE OPEN CUT. IT IS REPORTED 90 TONS OF BARITE WERE RECOVERED FROM THIS MINE. ABOUT 91 M (300 FT) NORTH OF THE MINE ARE APPROXIMATELY 30-50 TEST PITS AND TRENCHES, ALL OF WHICH APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN DUG BY HAND. CHERT IS FOUND EVERYWHERE ON THE HILLSIDE BUT NO OUTCROPS VISIBLE. PITS ARE SHALLOW AND ABOUT 1 M (3.3 FT) IN DIAMETER. ON THE ADJACENT LOONEY PROPERTY (NOW OWNED BY MR. MITCHELL) BARITE NODULES CAN BE FOUND IN THE CLAY RESIDUUM. LITTLE BARITE WAS FOUND NEAR OR AT THE REYNOLDS MINE.
