  • MASSIVE, BEDDED BARITE IS BANDED WITH MICA SCHIST AND OFTEN IRON STAINED. DUMP SAMPLES FOUND UP TO 12 INCHES THICK. NO ALTERATION SEEN ALONG BARITE AND COUNTRY ROCK (MICA SCHIST TO MYLONIZED GNEISS) SEEN. SCHISTOSITY FOLIATION ON STRIKE N70E AND DIPS 44SE.

  • TWO TEST PITS WERE DUG (DIMENSIONS UNKNOWN) IN 1930. IN 1985, TWO LARGE TRENCHES AND A SHAFT WERE FOUND. WESTERN TRENCH IS APPROXIMATELY 10FT WIDE, 5 TO 8 FT DEEP AND TRENDS N50E FOR 100FT UP HILLSIDE JUST ABOVE CREEK. MAIN (EASTERN TRENCH IS APPROXIMATELY 40FT WIDE, UP TO 20FT DEEP AND TRENDS N85E ALONG CREST OF SMALL HILL BETWEEN CREEKS FOR 200 TO 300 FT. 100 FT EAST OF MAIN TRENCH, A SHALLOW (CAVED) SHAFT IS 5FT BY 5 FT AND 10 TO 15 FT DEEP. EXTENT OF UNDERGROUND WORKINGS UNKNOWN.

  • IN 1930, O.C. OSBORNE, AFTERA RECONNAISSANCE STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF BARITE FLOAT, DUG TWO TEST PITS ALONG THE INFERRED STRIKE OF THE BARITE BODY. J.B. COX (PERSONAL COMMUNICATION, 1985) STATED THAT THIS PROPERTY WAS WORKED AND BARITE WAS PRODUCE ON A SMALL SCALE IN THE EARLY 1950'S WHEN A LARGE TRENCH WAS DUG ALONG STRIKE. OPERATOR WAS NOT KNOWN.
