Comments on the geologic information

  • THIS OCCURRENCE MAY BE A BLOCK OF ROME CAUGHT UP IN THE ELBROOK DURING THRUSTING. THE CAVE DESCRIBED DID NOT SHOW ANY LEAD MINERALIZATION AND STALACTITIC AND PISOLITIC SAMPLES SUGGESTING OXIDIZED ZINC MINERALIZATION PROVED TO BE CALCITE. THE VIRGINIAS' (1882) REPORT MAKES NOTE OF COAL IN THE AREA WHICH IS POSSIBLY IN THE PRICE FORMATION, EXPOSED IN THE PRICE MOUNTAIN WINDOW. ONE OF THE FORMATIONS NOTED ABOVE IS PROBABLY THE HOST FORMATION. BARTHOLOMEW AND LOWRY (1979) DESCRIBE THE GEOLOGY OF THE QUADRANGLE IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE EAST.
