  • A SHAFT WAS SUNK FOR SULFIDE EXPLORATION AND SEVERAL PITS WERE DUG FOR SULFIDE AND MANGANESE EXPLORATION. FIELD DATE COLLECTED 2/88: GEOLOGY IS LIGHT TO DARK GRAY DOLOMITE, BRECCIATED AND STRONGLY FRACTURED, WITH QUARTZ (CHERT), CALCITE, WHITE DOLOMITE AND MINOR LIGHT BROWN SPHALERITE ALONG FRACTURES, STRIKING N 62 DEG E, DIPPING 64 DEG SE.

  • THIS PROPERTY WAS PROSPECTED IN 1904 BY VIRGINIA LEAD & ZINC CO. WHICH SUNK A SHAFT AND DUG TWO PITS. DURING WWI ADDITIONAL PROSPECTING WAS PERFORMED IN SEARCH FOR MANGANESE.
