THIS PROSPECT IS 4200 FEET S 74 DEG W FROM THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROADS 629 AND 749 SOUTHEAST OF CEDAR SPRINGS, 4050 FEET S 12 DEG E FROM BENCH MARK K 20 (2432) EAST OF ASBURY CREEK AND CRIPPLE CREEK, 50 TO 150 FEET NORTH OF STATE ROAD 692. ONE OF THE LARGER PROSPECTS FOUND IN THE AREA. REFERRED TO AS NEWLAND FARM LEAD MINE BY LOCAL RESIDENTS. SMALL QUARRY 100 FEET NORTH OF PRIVATE GRAVEL ROAD TO TROUT FARM (EXTENSION OF ROUTE 692) 0.9 MILE WEST FROM RUT 749. LOCATED NEXT TO FARM SILO. STOP SIGN ON GATE. ; INFO FROM LAND.ST :(1988)

  • DOLOMITE FOUND ON THE DUMP IS LIGHT TO MEDIUM GRAY, MASSIVE, FINE GRAINED CRYSTALLINE, IRREGULAR BEDDED AND FRACTURED WITH THIN VEINS OF CALCITE AND WHITE DOLOMITE WITH MINOR IRON STAINING ALONG OUTSIDE EDGE OF VEINS. CURRIER (1935, P. 106) NOTES PROPERTY IS 0.75 MILES WEST OF JAMES PROPERTY PROSPECT.

  • NO DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKINGS FOUND IN THE LITERATURE. FIELD EXAMINATION CONDUCTED 2/18/88. FAIRLY LARGE SURFACE WORKINGS. MAIN PIT IS APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET LONG, 60 TO 80 FEET WIDE, AND 20 FT DEEP CUT IN N 70 DEG E DIRECTION PARALLEL TO STRIKE. TRENCH CUT PERPENDICULAR TO STRIKE FROM THE ROAD IS APPROXIMATELY 80 FEET LONG, 20 FEET WIDE AND 8 FEET DEEP. SMALLER WORKINGS OF PITS AND TRENCHES EXTEND FOR ABOUT 150 FEET TO THE EAST. DUMP MATERIAL SCATTERED. MAIN PIT IS PARTIALLY FILLED WITH TRASH AND DEBRIS. WORKINGS AND DUMPS ARE HEAVILY WEATHERED AND GROWN OVER.
