Deposit OPERATIONS WERE FIRST ORGANIZED IN 1864, WITH A LOW RECOVERY RATE. IN 1870, THE MINE WAS LEFT TO TRIBUTORS. WINONA COPPER CO. ORGANIZED IN 1898, AND KING PHILIP COPPER CO. ASSUMED TO BE ORGANIZED ABOUT SAME TIME. THIS MINE PRODUCED FROM 1920-1907, WAS IDLE UNTIL 1911 WHEN THE WINONA COPPER CO. ABSORBED THE KING PHILIP COPPER CO., AND RESUMED PRODUCTION UNTIL 1920 WHEN IT WAS CLOSED.
