  • IN 1982, THE WORKINGS CONSISTED OF ONE OPENCUT, ONE CAVED SHAFT, 8 PITS AND DUMPS. THERE WAS ALSO A SMALL ORE DUMP BY THE OPENCUT. THE OPENCUT IS ABOUT 23 M (75 FT) LONG, 2.4 M (8 FT) WIDE, AND UP TO 2 M (6 FT) DEEP. THE SHAFT IS LOCATED AT THE EAST END OF THE OPENCUT AND IS ABOUT 2.4 M (8 FT) SQUARE AND 2.4 M (8 FT) DEEP. THE LARGEST PIT IS ABOUT 2.4 M (8 FT) IN DIAMETER AND 1.2 M (4 FT) DEEP.

Deposit MANGANESE OCCURS AS NODULES AND THIN SEAMS IN REDDISH AND OCHER COLORED CLAY. THE CLAY ALSO CONTAINS SMALL FRAGMENTS OF CHERT. BRECCIA FLOAT OF THE ANTIETAM QUARTZITE CEMENTED WITH MANGANESE OXIDES CAN BE FOUND EXTENDING UP TO THE TOP OF THE RIDGE WHERE SEVERAL PROSPECT PITS HAVE BEEN SUNK.
